Starting Each Day with Love & Grace

Apr 12, 2024

How do we infuse our mornings with the presence of Christ and nurture a mindset of love and grace towards our spouses, imperfections and all?

As certified marriage coaches deeply rooted in faith, we understand the importance of anchoring our marriages in the love and guidance of our Savior, Jesus Christ. One powerful way to do this is by consciously acknowledging His presence each morning as we embark on a new day.

Make it a morning of Faith!

My mornings go a bit like this; the sun gently streaming through the curtains (sometimes it may be no sun though. Those dang daylight savings hours!!), and before I even swing my legs out of bed, I take a moment to center myself in Christ. I say "Good morning. Today I give all things to you.". For you It could be a simple prayer, a verse of scripture, or even just a few moments of quiet reflection, inviting Him into your day. This sets the tone for what lies ahead, infusing your actions and interactions with His love and grace.

Seeing Beyond Faults.

Now, let’s talk about looking beyond our spouses' faults. It’s easy to get caught up in the little annoyances and imperfections that inevitably arise in any marriage. But as followers of Christ, we are called to something greater: to see each other through the lens of love and forgiveness, just as He sees us.

In Matthew 10:40, Jesus reminds us, “He who receives you receives Me, and he who receives Me receives Him who sent Me.” This truth serves as a foundation for our marriages. When we receive our spouses with love and acceptance, we are also receiving Christ Himself into our midst. And in doing so, we honor not only our partners but also the One who sent us His Son.

Embracing Grace in Tribulations.

Marriage isn’t always smooth sailing (Ron is nodding a little too eagerly at this one sitting next to me with a little smile on his face….). There are bound to be challenges along the way, whether they stem from external pressures or internal struggles. But as Romans 5:2-5 beautifully illustrates, our faith grants us access to a grace that sustains us through even the toughest times. In this passage, we’re reminded that tribulations can actually be catalysts for growth. Through perseverance, character is forged, and through character, hope blossoms. And at the heart of it all is the unwavering love of God, poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit.

A Marriage Anchored in Faith.

As we navigate the highs and lows of married life, let’s make a commitment to start each day with Christ at the center. Let’s strive to see beyond our spouses' faults, embracing them with the same love and grace that Christ extends to us. And let’s hold fast to the promise of hope, knowing that our faith in God’s love will never disappoint us.

May our marriages be shining examples of the transformative power of Christ’s presence in our lives, guiding us towards ever-deepening love and unity.

Until next time, stay Anchored in Love & Guided by Faith!

Perfectly Imperfect,

Sam & Ron
